Investigation into the Stary Sacz market, 27 Nov 2013

miniViva! Poland, on behalf of Animals’ Angels inspects a market in Stary Sącz.

The temperature is – 4ºC. The market’s newly-built infrastructure, such as pavement, fencing, shelters and goods-stands were funded from EU subsidies, a fact which is often highlighted by the local authorities. However, the market activity is far from being civilized.

Piglets and poultry are kept in cages too small for them to move. They are not supplied with water, and finally are put into bags while being sold. Some hens are even sold directly out of bags. Horses, cattle, sheep, and goats are handled violently and some remain onboard the trucks throughout the whole market. The animals are transported in regular cargo trailers. There is no veterinary supervision observed.

Animals’ Angels will see to that so the EU authorities are aware of the law violations taking place at the EU-funded market.
